Do you have concerns about falling? The Westport Weston Health District, in partnership with the Westport Weston Family YMCA, will offer A Matter of Balance, an award-winning program designed to decrease your fear of falling and increase your activity levels. Participants learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home, and exercise to improve strength and balance.
Classes will meet Tuesdays, May 2nd through June 20th, from 12:45 – 2:45 p.m. at the Westport Weston Family YMCA, 14 Allen Raymond Lane, Westport. There is no charge for the program but pre-registration is required as space is limited. To register, call Shelly Goldman, Healthy Living Programs Director for the YMCA, at 203-226-8981, ext. 124.
Who should attend A Matter of Balance? Anyone concerned about falling, interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength, has fallen in the past, or has restricted activities because of a fear of falling.
