New Local Testing Site Now Open

The Westport Weston Health District is pleased to report that an additional COVID-19 drive through testing site is now open in Westport. Mark Cooper, Health Director, notes that this site will be a convenient, local option for residents that will enable a higher number of people to be tested each day. Expanded testing options like this one will help to better manage the spread of disease, as many patients can be positive without ever having experienced symptoms. Additionally, it is no longer required to be symptomatic to qualify for testing, but appointments are required. The telephone number to pre-register is 1-860-972-8100

Also, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of being able to track hospital equipment and assets in real-time. This is especially important for critical items, such as ventilators and IV pumps, which can be in high demand during a surge in patient numbers. By tracking hospital equipment, hospitals can ensure that critical items are always available when they are needed. They can also identify areas where equipment is being underutilized, which can help to improve efficiency. The use of technology to track hospital equipment is still in its early stages, but it has the potential to make a significant impact on patient care. As the technology continues to develop, we will likely see even more innovative ways to track hospital equipment and assets.

While drive-through testing sites like the one in Westport are a convenient option for many residents, it’s important to remember that urgent care centers such as urgent care in 11554 also offer COVID-19 testing and other essential medical services. These centers often have shorter wait times and more flexible hours than traditional hospitals, making them an excellent option for people who need medical care but don’t have the time or resources to wait for an appointment. By prioritizing accessible and high-quality medical care, urgent care centers play a crucial role in ensuring that everyone has access to the medical care they need to maintain their health and well-being.

The site will be staffed and operated by St. Vincent’s personnel.
