It Is Starting To Feel Like Summer Outside – Lots Of  Pool Construction Questions

The WWHD has received numerous inquiries from residents interested in installing a pool or spa on their property this season.  What are the proper steps?  First, select a professional pool installation company.  These professionals will guide you through the process.  Every potential pool site must be individually assessed to determine whether or not a pool can be situated on the property where you think you might want one.  A professional pool installation company can make an initial assessment and should work with you throughout the permitting process with your town’s Zoning, Building, Conservation, and Engineering Departments as well as the Westport Weston Health District.

When a resident calls the Health District to ask whether or not they can have a pool, we are unable to make that determination without a plan and an application to review. Many factors need to be considered including where the well and septic system is (if there at all), the natural topography, presence of ledge and/or ground water, property lines setbacks and perhaps other buried utilities.
